WHO DO YOU
THINK YOU ARE
Who Do You Think You Are is an in-development exploration game from the point of view of someone trying to restore order to a large estate after something goes bump in the night. Inspired by RPGM horror, WDYTYA is an eerie experience that plays with unreality and distorted space. The original demo, made for #MyFirstGameJam in January 2016, is about 10-25 minutes long, with nine maps to explore and several items to collect, examine, and use. WDYTYA has remained in progress since 2016, but as of 2018, it is being redeveloped from the ground up as a robust choice-based interactive fiction piece in Twine. At its heart, Who Do You Think You Are is a claustrophobic narrative about identity, guilt, and the shadows that haunt old houses. If you stand still and silent for long enough, you can hear the house settling, the garden growing, the portraits blinking when you turn your back. |
S.P. is a methodical, sardonic, and rather pretentious individual who is intent on restoring order to the estate. Their face is always in shadow, and their only blissful dreams are the ones where every last green thing withers and dies - freedom at last. Disagreeable temperament and difficult relationship with houseplants aside, they are not without other interesting qualities: they are keenly observant, semi-fluent in a few languages (though their voice still hints at a deep Southern twang), and a talented pianist, if somewhat out of practice of late. |

REMAKE
(coming 2021)
In being converted to IF, WDYTYA will be undergoing some changes. The game will become prose-based and progress via various types of hyperlinks, which allow the player to manage directional movement between rooms, access menus, use items, examine their surroundings, and make choices.
